New Businesses To Open This Weekend On Main Street

Tuesday, August 30, 2011

www.thisweekinsarasota.com/content_content_detail.cfmThree new businesses – The Viking Culinary Center, Pastries by Design and Athletic Edge sports – will be open just in time for Music on Main this Friday night, Sept. 2, 2011 on Main Street at Lakewood Ranch. Pastries by Design will open on Thursday and The Viking Culinary School and Athletic Edge will open on Friday. Visitors to Music on Main will be able to visit the culinary center’s open house and for a $10 fee, get a tour and a cooking demonstration inside. The wine bar will also be open.
Music on Main runs from 6-9 p.m. GoodBye Eddie will take the stage playing all your classic rock favorites. Beer, wine and food sales will benefit Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy (PPMD). Local residents Nick and Jennifer Tullio will be pouring and serving beverages to guests, along with about 25 volunteers, to raise money to end Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The Tullio’s son, Grayson, was diagnosed with Duchenne in 2005. PPMD is a non-profit organization founded in 1994 by parents and grandparents of children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. PPMD is internationally recognized as the leader in the Duchenne community.
Check out the fountain area for some extra activities, with a visit from the balloon twister, face painting, and Aggie Originals’ caricature art. Stroll around and enjoy the exquisite shops and restaurants, or play a round of golf while you enjoy the music!
Guests are welcome to bring chairs, but please leave coolers at home. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a short leash. Overflow parking is available at the Lakewood Ranch Medical Center.
The series is made possible by our generous sponsors: Lakewood Ranch Herald, ABC 7, Scene Magazine, Lakewood Ranch Medical Center, M & I Bank, Conley Buick Subaru Conley Buick & GMC, Sarasota Orthopedic Associates , WLSS New Talk 930 AM, WCTQ and Michelob Ultra.
