New home sales numbers continue to soar in Lakewood Ranch with 49 sales in the month of April, bringing the year-to-date total to 156. “Lakewood Ranch is a point of light in the real estate market,” said Milt Flinn, LWR Communities’ president. “Buyers here realize that master-planned communities hold tremendous value, and the fact that we have been ranked the No. 12 community in the nation only helps to drive these positive results. Many of the current home buyers first visited Lakewood Ranch back in 2007; they have been in the market for a few years and have realized now is the time to buy.”
With 40 new home models to see in Lakewood Ranch and 130 homes currently under construction, walk-in traffic to our information centers and models is up dramatically as well. Year-to-date more than 6,500 people visited our models and information centers, compared to just over 3,900 last year. “We work diligently to make this the most desirable place to live in the state of Florida,” said Rex Jensen, president and CEO of Schroeder-Manatee Ranch, Inc., the developer of Lakewood Ranch. “Since 1995, when we built our first home here, we have strategically worked to create two jobs for every household, to be two schools ahead of demand, and to make this a beautiful community integrated with nature that is a place people want to call home. For these reasons, I am not surprised that we are so successful at a time when others are just beginning their recovery.”
Two new models are now open in Secret Harbor, in Country Club East. John Cannon Homes is the first of several builders to start a new model in the newest section of The Lake Cub, called The Vineyards, aiming for a November completion date to tie in with Tour of Homes.
In commercial real estate, four new businesses are set to open this summer on Main Street in Lakewood Ranch. Urban Accents, the Viking Cooking School, The Premier Sports Campus endurance training center and another casual restaurant are all on target to open over the next few months.
The cooking school set to open on Main Street will host an August grand opening celebration, with a soft opening planned possibly for late July. Music on Main, the free street party on the first Friday of every month is attracting more people than ever before. So far in 2011, more than $15,000 has been raised for area charities at this popular monthly event. This month’s street party is this Friday, May 6 from 6 - 9 p.m. and features Big T & The Tornadoes, benefitting the Sarasota Film Society.
Construction is underway for Lost Creek Apartments on Lakewood Ranch Boulevard, north of State Road 70. A temporary leasing office will be on site this summer, with residents being able to move in by the end of this year. The clubhouse will be the first building constructed on the site.
Lakewood Ranch is the 8,500-acre award winning master-planned community in Sarasota and Manatee counties on the West Coast of Florida. Just minutes from the Gulf Coast beaches, and cultural assets in Sarasota, Lakewood Ranch is already home to more 15,000 residents and features A-rated schools, a hospital, the Sarasota Polo Club, its own Main Street with theaters, shopping and dining, and four million square feet of commercial property.
