LAKEWOOD RANCH RANKED NO. 2
MASTER-PLANNED COMMUNITY IN FLORIDA
John Burns Consulting, a national real estate consulting firm, has ranked Lakewood Ranch the number two master-planned community in the state of Florida, just behind the Villages in Ocala. John Burns Real Estate Consulting is a national source of independent housing research, advice and consulting. Its research is backed by detailed data, as well as proprietary tools and experienced professionals around the country.
The study also ranked the top 20 master-planned communities around the entire nation, and among those Lakewood Ranch ranked 12th. “We are so proud of this top nationwide ranking,” said Milt Flinn, president of LWR Communities. “We know that our strategic master plan – incorporating our neighborhoods with amenities like parks and schools, shopping and recreation – is one of the key reasons why Lakewood Ranch is so successful.”
The John Burns study qualifies master-planned communities as large scale developments that typically include a wide array of real estate product, diverse amenities and multiple commercial uses (such as offices, shopping centers and hotels). The concept is that a “place” can be created where different lifestyle options are offered and a central environment is established. It goes on to state that master plans have become synonymous with great schools, expansive parks, safer investments, and recreational opportunities that command a six to 10 percent price premium over the competition. Lakewood Ranch is also celebrating a record breaking start to 2011, with 77 new home sales and reservations in January and February of this year. By the end of the first quarter of 2011, there will be 50 new home models to see throughout Lakewood Ranch.
Lakewood Ranch is the 8,500-acre award winning master-planned community in Sarasota and Manatee counties on the West Coast of Florida. Just minutes from the Gulf Coast beaches, and cultural assets in Sarasota, Lakewood Ranch is already home to more 15,000 residents and features A-rated schools, a hospital, the Sarasota Polo Club, its own Main Street with theaters, shopping and dining, and four million square feet of commercial property.
