Philanthropy

Since its inception in 2000, the Lakewood Ranch Community Fund has given nearly $200,000 to non-profit organizations in the community. The fund’s mission is to help support programs that enhance the community in the areas of education, youth activities, elder care and programs, health, libraries, culture and the environment.
The Lakewood Ranch Community Fund hosts two major fund raising events each year – the Lakewood Ranch Gala and the Annual Golf Tournament.

Lakewood Ranch also has a heritage of working with non-profit institutions to help them locate here and has donated or contributed to schools, parks, the YMCA, the Red Cross and others. Recently, Schroeder-Manatee Ranch, parent company of the developers of Lakewood Ranch, donated approximately two acres of land to the United Way and the Manatee Chamber of Commerce. The two organizations will share a new 5,000-square-foot building to be constructed on the site.

In addition to corporate efforts by Lakewood Ranch, many residents are personally engaged in volunteerism and fund raising for local charities and non-profit organizations.
