For nearly a century, Schroeder-Manatee Ranch, the parent company of Lakewood Ranch, has been committed to the protection and preservation of the land within its care. From turf and tree farming to ranching, agriculture and community development, SMR's treatment of the land and environment has been a continuing expression of the most careful stewardship.

This heritage of environmental responsibility has led to Lakewood Ranch being designated a Green Community by the Florida Green Building Coalition. Lakewood Ranch is the largest master-planned community in the state to achieve this important designation. Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club's membership in the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses is another important example of our environmental commitment.
