Art School, Seafood Restaurant Open On Lwr Main
Thursday, May 31, 2012
Two new businesses – Let’s Create Art and Pinchers Crab Shack – have opened their doors on Lakewood Ranch’s Main Street.
The new Ranch location is the first in Florida for Let’s Create Art; the studio will host a grand opening event at 6 p.m. June 2. The event, which is open to the public, will be a meet and greet with the art instructors, who will be teaching classes at the school beginning June 11. The instructors include the director of art and founder of Let's Create Art, Clark Prosperi; and local Sarasota artists and instructors Lucy Barber, Jean Cipriano, and Diane Lynne Chanako. The instructors will provide professional and fun instruction that is customized for each skill level – beginner to advanced – in both adult and young artist programs.
“Anyone can paint,” said Brazilian-born artist Prosperi. “People think it’s very difficult but once you take the intimidation factor out of painting – make it fun and relaxing – then my students are always surprised at what they can achieve in a very short time period. By establishing a fun, relaxing school that offers professional high-level art instruction, our goal is to teach many, many people to do just that – learn to paint beautiful art and enjoy the pleasure and rewards that come from painting.” Prosperi also creates his own custom commission paintings, including pet portraits, all in oil on canvas.
Let’s Create Art also offers "Paint 'N Party" art parties on Tuesday and Friday nights, which include appetizers and all art supplies, even canvases. Patrons may bring their own wine to enjoy while painting.
The grand opening event will have food, drinks and a performance from world class pianist and singer Katherine Alexandra. The event is free and open to the art-loving public. The company retained all the employees from the Clark Road location, most of which are moving with the company to Lakewood Ranch.
